EXPLORING EL MORRO ON THE LAST FAMTRIP OF THE YEAR: CULTURE, HISTORY AND WINE TOURISM IN GUAYAS
Exploring El Morro: A Journey to the Cultural and Wine Heart of Guayas
In celebration of World Wine Tourism Day, we had the privilege of participating in the last fam trip of the year organized by the Tourism Directorate of the Guayas Prefecture. This experience led us to the historic parish of El Morro, a destination that combines tradition, history, and natural charm in the province of Guayas. Throughout our tour, we explored some of the main tourist attractions in this picturesque community, discovering its unique stories and flavors that invite both locals and visitors to enjoy an authentic and enriching experience.
San Jacinto Church of El Morro: History and Faith in Every Corner
Our first stop was the emblematic San Jacinto Church of El Morro. This temple, with its architecture and deep connection to the community's history, is a symbol of the region's religious and cultural heritage. Its structure transports us to another era, and its architectural details reflect the faith and spirit of its inhabitants, who have preserved this monument as a treasure for future generations. The church is also a gathering place for local events and festivals, serving as a central part of life for El Morro's residents.
"San Francisco" Centennial Bakery: Tradition in Every Bite
We continued our journey with a visit to the "San Francisco" Centennial Bakery, where the aroma of freshly baked bread welcomed us. This bakery, founded more than a hundred years ago, preserves traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations. The visit offered a unique sensory experience, connecting us to the family and community history of El Morro through the taste of its products. This bakery reflects the importance of tradition and dedication in every aspect of its production, making each bite a journey to the past.
Dos Hemisferios Vineyard: The Wine Tourism Experience in El Morro
To close the day, we headed to the Dos Hemisferios Vineyard, a gem for wine lovers and a symbol of innovation in the region. Challenging climate conditions, this vineyard has developed an approach that blends tradition with modernity, offering wines that capture the essence of Ecuadorian soil. The visit included a tasting of its wines, where we learned about the local production process. This stop at Dos Hemisferios was especially meaningful within the context of World Wine Tourism Day, highlighting Guayas' role as an emerging destination in wine tourism.
